Setup & help

A clear path
to your first signature.

Start with your existing Microsoft signing resources. The application guides the local preparation, file selection and signing steps.

Getting started

  1. Prepare your signing account.

Before using the app, configure your Microsoft Artifact Signing account and an active Public Trust certificate profile. Complete Microsoft’s identity validation and make sure your identity has permission to sign.

  2. Install, then launch.

Download the free Windows installer. Once setup finishes, launch the desktop or Start Menu shortcut. Read the privacy and installation agreement and allow System Readiness to prepare missing bundled prerequisites.

  3. Connect your existing resources.

Authenticate through Microsoft. Select the subscription, signing account and Public Trust certificate profile you are authorized to use. The application does not create these resources.

  4. Select, sign and review.

Choose one file for a PDF verification report, or 2–50 files for a batch without PDF reports. Review the selection and results. Original backups are created before signing, and signatures and timestamps are checked afterward.

Common questions

Before you ask.

Is the application really free?

Yes. ArtifactTrust Pro GUI is free for everyone. A coffee donation is entirely optional and is not required to download, install, or use the application. Microsoft subscription and signing-service charges are separate.

Can I use it for software I create at home?

Yes, if you have the required Microsoft signing resources and meet Microsoft’s eligibility requirements. The app is designed for software creators, including individual developers, home businesses and professional teams. It is not a general household security utility.

Does the app include a Microsoft signing account?

No. You must arrange an eligible identity, Azure subscription, Microsoft Artifact Signing account, Public Trust certificate profile and signing permissions separately. The app connects to those existing resources.

What is the difference between signing one file and a batch?

With one selected file, the app signs and verifies it and generates a three-page PDF verification report. With 2 to 50 selected files, it processes them sequentially using the same profile and shows per-file results without PDF reports.

Does it sign PDF documents?

No. The PDF is a report about a signed software file. This application does not add electronic signatures to PDF documents.

Which files can I sign?

Compatible unsigned Windows software files, including EXE, DLL and MSI, smaller than 4 GB each. Other formats appear in the file picker, but selection does not guarantee that every package, driver or file meets its required signing policy.

Why is a file rejected?

Check that it is unsigned, smaller than 4 GB, accessible for writing and eligible for the selected signing method. The running application cannot sign itself. Existing signatures are not overwritten by this workflow.

Will I need to sign in every time?

The app saves application-specific authorization for convenient repeat use. Microsoft can expire or revoke sessions or require new authentication. There is no guaranteed sign-in duration.

What do Sign Out and uninstall remove?

Sign Out clears this application’s saved local authorization. Uninstall removes application files and product-owned authentication caches. It leaves shared Microsoft prerequisites installed and preserves signed files, backups and reports stored outside the application folder. It does not sign out every browser, Windows or Microsoft session.

Will signing remove every Windows or antivirus warning?

No. Signing helps identify the certificate’s publisher and detect file changes. Microsoft Store, Windows security features, antivirus vendors and other platforms apply their own reputation and acceptance policies.

Why did a signature succeed but the PDF report fail?

PDF generation is a separate step and can fail independently of signing. Review the on-screen result and file signature. Check write permissions and available storage before creating another report. Do not assume a report-generation error means the signature failed.

Is Microsoft Store availability confirmed?

The submission is awaiting approval. The current free installer is available directly from this website.
